Eight Episodes Netflix Series: Ethos. Should I watch?

Watching a high-quality series is one of the most satisfying activities during the quarantine. With large series variety, it helps to know if a series matches what we are looking for and if it fits our mood at the time. Ethos is a Turkish Drama on Netflix about individuals with a different socio-economical background. However, their paths intertwine. Let us help you decide if Ethos is what you need to be watching! Don't worry! I will not post any spoiler.

Acting: Great acting! The main character: "Meriem" and her brother "Yasin" draw you into the story with ease. The two psychiatrists: Peri and Gülbin are the perfect fit for their roles. I loved how the two share the same profession and similar looks but different views and personalities.

Script and Story: The eight episodes are very rich in dialogue, so if you are into action this is probably not your show! The script is very well written. It allows an understanding of each character's background, personality, and sense of humor. The audience will enjoy how the characters evolve throughout the story. The pace could however be a little faster. Some details didn't seem to fit or add value to the full story. Some moments, we cannot see where the story is going but it adds up nicely at the end. Beautiful soundtrack and superb cinematographic!

Cliché: Only uneducated women in the series were Hijabi: Meriem, Ruhiye (Yasin's sister), and Gülan (Gulbin's sister) who mentions her lack of education during a fight with Gulbin. Ethos does not show Hijaby women as uncool or boring. Meriem was portrayed as a smart woman with strong common sense and a sense of humor. However, it does not show the aspect of highly educated women with Hijab.

Binge-Watch? I wouldn't. Every episode is very rich. Many scenes leave you wondering what that character is thinking about. It helps to let it sink. If you have a watching buddy, reflect together! It is one of these shows where there can be several interpretations for one scene.

Overall, if you are into well-written scripts and don't mind a slow pace drama and long dialogues, Ethos is a great series to watch!
